First Post! by Colin

Hey there everybody,

If you're reading this, you've probably been linked over from either Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter or anyone one of the other 5 billion social networks we whore ourselves on. The reason we started this particular blog up is that spoken word is good, but for Justin and I especially, writing comes to us a tad more naturally.

So let's review the last two years...

2009- Justin and I started "Boldly Going Nowhere" after I did a few guest spots on "Very Thin Ice" (Justin's previous foray into podcasting, co-hosted by Evan Rosenberg) and found we riffed together very well. This was not a suprise as we had worked together on many a project, after a test episode recorded on some hastly purchased headset mics, we named the show and started posting up episodes.

During those heady first days, I would drive to the UMBC campus (Justin was attending there at the time) and we'd record and episode whenever we could. In April of 2010 (5 months after the test episode) we decided to take a break for awhile as Justin was graduating and his school and private life had him booked solid. But we assured each other that there was no way we were going to stop recording.

MONTHS PASSED.

Now this was an error on both our parts as we both were busy doing our own things, but eventually our schedules died down to the point where we could begin recording episodes on a semi-regular basis again.
Enter Sean Holmes, Sean was a friend of mine from FCC who had just finished his rounds at Towson and was also making forays into podcasting "B & S Reviews" featured him and childhood friend Benjamin Price (whom I also knew). They reminded me alot of our early days, they seemed to have a lot of fun with it. Eventually Justin and I had Sean come on a guest for a few episodes and invited him to come on as a permanent co-host.

This continued on until about two weeks ago, when we thought "Why not combine our efforts?" So Sean and Ben posted the "final" episode of "B & S Reviews" where (laughably so) the show was outsourced to India, in the final moments of the episode, Sean explained the move to "Boldly Going Nowhere", get a listen to it here http://bandsreviews.podomatic.com/entry/2011-10-29T15_05_09-07_00

But fear not as "B & S Review" is still around as bonus weekly episode to Boldly Going Nowhere, so those who have come to love Sean and Ben's trademark banter can still get your weekly dose of it at the new website http://www.castwavestudios.com/.

So that's a brief update of our perilous journey through the podcast ranks. Tomorrow? John Mancini Band at the 8x10 in Baltimore, check it out tomorrow!
